Introduction to Journal Writing, Reproducible - Grade 1
Journal writing is not about spelling and grammar, it's a highly personal outpouring of thoughts and experiences. The more students write as young children, the higher quality their writing will be, now and as they go through life.
- Writing, drawing activities.
- Personal dictionary in each book.
- Graphic organizers to aid in organizing ideas for writing.
Students need to engage in a variety of writing experiences to become competent communicators. Introduction to Journal Writing series from Steck Vaughn helps stimulate young writers by helping them organize their thoughts. It provides opportunities to write about familiar, age-appropriate topics like senses, feelings, food, animals, and more.
The books are divided into two parts. The first part has eight units dealing with self, friends, animals, and seasons. Each unit includes eight activity sheets encouraging students to answer questions about their interests, friends, and pastimes. Students will finish sentences, make lists, write about their favorite foods and sports, and fill out diagrams. The second part of the book is a Personal Dictionary that can be used to list words that are special or interesting to them and provides room for students to write whatever they want. A great way to encourage writing at an early age.Grade: 1
