The Calvert Language Arts Grade 2 curriculum is comprised of a teacher's guide and ten student workbooks. Each full-color student workbook features a basic worksheet direction followed by the exercises; lesson instruction comes from the teacher. Workbooks feature 3-5 sections, self-test sections, spelling tests, and a final unit test. The teacher's guide includes a list of materials needed for the unit, optional learning activities, and instructions on teaching the lesson & administering spelling tests; answer keys and alternative tests are also provided.

This program covers nouns, action verbs, simple sentences, types of sentences, punctuation, adjectives, possessive nouns, pronouns, verb types, and tenses.
