EnVision Math Grade 1 Student Workbook (2011 Version)
The Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley enVision Math program is based upon a vision of children engaged and understanding math at a conceptual level. Using problem-based interactive activities and a strong emphasis on visual learning, the text is filled with bar diagram tools, pictures of money and counters, and other visual representations to help students work their way to thinking about abstract mathematical concepts. This highly visual math will help your child envision math concepts.
Grade 1 topics include comparison, addition, subtraction, telling time, fractions, measurements, picture graphs, and more. When your student finishes enVisionMATH: Grade 1, he or she should be able to:
- Count to 100 using intervals of one, five and 10.
- Break up numbers using intervals (i.e., 15 is equal to 10 plus 5).
- Add and subtract using numbers one through 20.
- Use objects and drawings to express math concepts, such as addition and subtraction.
- Recognize patterns and shapes.
- Draw 2-D shapes.
- Measure objects using units of measurement.

Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley enVision Math Program
The student workbooks at K-2 levels of the program are large format books with tear-n-take pages for hands-on learning activities. The 3rd through 6th grade levels of the curriculum offer a hardcover text with step-by-step instruction and illustrations for interactive learning. They are brightly colored. It is hard to imagine any child not loving the cute graphics and visual presentation.
Books are divided into 20 units (16 units at the kindergarten level), and each unit is broken down into daily lessons. At the end of every unit is an assessment and review. Units are arranged topically and some instruction is included at the bottom of the pages (K-2) for things to do at home and an activity. So that students stay fresh with their concepts, spiral review pages can be printed from the Teacher Edition CD-ROM for repeated practice.
Bundles, which are sold separately, include the student book, MindPoint Quiz Show CD-ROM, and Teacher Edition CD-ROM. The MindPoint Quiz Show is a CD-ROM with a fun, interactive game that students can play to hone their math skills. The Teacher Edition CD-ROM has a lot of useful information and is easy to use. Simply put the disc into your computer and it is ready to go. You will find 3 tabs along the top for easy navigation. Parents and teachers will be able to print out center activities, vocabulary cards, an interactive math story, lesson masters, and assessments. They will also find materials for planning and teaching lessons a teacher edition in pdf format.
